PHILANTHROPY
STRAWBERRIES FOR STRENGTH
At our event we sell chocolate covered strawberries and paper strawberries to be added to the strawberry bush that we put on display. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against this disease. The event was created to raise awareness and if donations are made they will be donated to our Relay for Life page!
PICTURE A CURE
Our newest event, Picture a Cure, means so much to many active sisters. We host our event to raise money for type 1 diabetes by selling crafted picture frames. Along with this event, sisters will be participating in the "JDRF One Walk" in Westchester. We are participating in this walk to provide funds for research, advocate for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and provide a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D.
PS ABOUT MS
PS about MS is an informative event about multiple sclerosis often co-hosted with IKO (Psi Kappa Theta), another sorority on campus. Many sisters within each organization have been personally affect by this disease. Throughout this event we inform others of how detrimental and difficult this disease is and also hear personal stories from those who have been affected. Our goal is to spread awareness and to one day live in a world where MS is cured!
LOVE SHOULDN'T HURT
Love Shouldn't Hurt is our Domestic Violence Awareness event. Co-hosted with the criminal justice club and the counseling center, we discuss domestic violence, discuss resources and host a bake sale in the money goes to "My Sisters Place." This is an organization located in White Plains that is dedicated to helping abused women and their families.
CIRCLE OF SISTERHOOD
Circle of Sisterhood is one of our most popular events since we team up with all sororities on campus to host this event. While this event changes year to year, the main purpose is to promote diversity and inclusion. This year, we are also teaming up with the ASL Club to bring awareness to the American Sign Language community. Our goal is to teach everyone various signs that relate to Greek life to use on an everyday basis!
